2024 elections : A New Era in politics P.V.Prabhakar Rao

Beauro Chief Dr Ram Dayal Bhati Bikaner

The 2024 elections have delivered an interesting mandate in Telangana. Just six months ago, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) garnered a modest 14% of the votes, securing six assembly seats. Fast forward to now, and the BJP achieving around 30% vote share, winning eight Lok Sabha seats is remarkable by any standard. . This extraordinary shift signifies emergence of BJP as a formidable force in Telangana.

The primary reason behind this significant political shift in Telangana is the complete collapse of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). This implosion allowed the BJP to make substantial inroads into the BRS vote bank. Added to that, Modi’s appeal to first-time voters and staunch nationalists has been pivotal. His strategic invocation of former Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao by posthumously awarding him the Bharat Ratna resonated deeply with the people of Telangana. This act has elevated him beyond the realm of politics into a statesman of national significance.

In stark contrast, the Congress party could have capitalized on their convincing victory just six months ago. In the normal course people would have expected consolidation of their vote bank leveraging the victory sentiment. However, failing to take advantage of the ‘self – respect’ sentiment attached with Narasimha Rao coupled with their disregard for some of the the politically significant dalit communities and to a certain extent the Backward Classes, hampered their prospects to go beyond 8 seats.

On the national scene , I.N.D.I.A partners altough proved more effective this time around, Congress Party’s own failure to go past the 100 mark barrier has left the alliance floundering.

The absence of a clear Prime Ministerial candidate from the I.N.D.I.A coalition raises questions about leadership and stability. People are understandably wary of an unstable government, especially given the significant national and international challenges facing India. The opposition’s diverse and often conflicting ideologies suggest a fragile coalition that the country can ill afford at this critical juncture.

India’s economic aspirations hinge on stable and visionary leadership. Contrary to I.N.D.I.A’ s only agenda of ‘ Modi Hatao- Desh bachao’, Modi positioned India as a strong player in world politics and has successfully promoted it as an emerging “Vishwa Guru”. Several achievements of the last 10 years some how got misinterpreted and got mired in communal packaging. Although every policy and welfare scheme was meant for all citizens, the way they got articulated threatened the minorities. The fear got translated into reduced mandate for the BJP.

Modi’s third term represents a critical period for India. He is known for resilience during difficult times and bold decision-making, and that is exactly what the country needs now. Be it on retaining important portfolios or dealing with NDA partners, Modi needs be decisive. All said and done the buck stops with him as far as the performance of the Government goes. With a political career spanning three terms as Chief Minister and two as Prime Minister, Modi should now not falter in taking decisions in the interest of the country.

As India stands on the brink of a new era, it is clear that Narendra Modi is the best bet for sustained leadership and stability. His experience, vision, and decisiveness are crucial for navigating the complexities of the modern world. As he embarks on his third term, we extend our best wishes to him and look forward to the continued progress and prosperity of our nation.
